Marang is uniquely positioned at the forefront of poverty alleviation. With just under 200 staff members and a growing national foot-print, Marang is one of the largest pro-poor micro-finance institutions in South Africa. Marang focuses predominantly on small-scale entrepreneurs in rural areas and strives for professionalism and efficiency improvements in order to create a good basis for complete financial independence.

Marang Financial Services (Pty) Ltd is a subsidiary of Marang Enterprise Development Foundation Section 21 (Marang Foundation).

The Marang Foundation is focused on a critical role as the development arm of the organization. This includes acting as the custodian of the values of Marang as a development finance institution. Activities will include the provision of enterprise skills development services to enhance the capacity of individual clients to grow their businesses and of communities to benefit from entrepreneurial activity. The Foundation will also undertake tasks such as impact assessment and client satisfaction surveys, and play a role in the development of demand driven products and services through interaction with the target market.
